It began in 1984 as Greg Taylor Productions, operating from the back streets of St Kilda, where it became Melbourne’s first production company to offer multi-slide audiovisual presentations to the corporate sector. This innovative technology established the business as one of Melbourne’s leading event companies.

Greg Taylor Productions was later rebranded as The Production Place, expanding its reputation and expertise in event management while delivering projects for local councils, cultural institutions, education providers, event promoters and State Governments.

In 2019, under the leadership of James Batty, The Production Place acquired Coulson Party Hire(established in 1965), bringing together decades of experience in event management, infrastructure and logistics to form Event Logistic Group (ELG). This milestone introduced a comprehensive infrastructure division, providing marquees, event hire equipment, warehousing and logistics services to complement the company’s event delivery capabilities.

In 2024, after many years of industry experience, James purchased ELG and established himself as the hands-on Owner and Managing Director, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service and creating long-term relationships with clients.

In 2025, ELG welcomed Bay Events into the group, further strengthening its capabilities and establishing ELG as one of Melbourne’s leading event specialists and infrastructure suppliers.

Today, Event Logistic Group operates through two specialist divisions, allowing us to deliver seamless events from concept through to completion: Events & Activations and Marquee & Event Hire.

Together, these two divisions enable ELG to provide clients with a complete end-to-end event solution—from the initial planning stages through to pack down delivered by one experienced and trusted team.
